Description Kéal Gé Sucralfate 1g Drinkable Suspension 30 Sachets

EG Labo Kéal Gé 1g Sucralfate Oral Suspension 30 Sachets is a medicine indicated for the treatment of gastric or duodenal ulcers, as well as for the prevention of duodenal ulcers.

The active substance of this medicine is sucralfate, dosed at 1 g.

Warnings and precautions

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking KÉAL.

A few cases of bezoars (obstructions of the digestive tract) have been reported in patients hospitalized in intensive care units, mainly in association with tube feeding, and in newborns, especially premature and immature newborns.

Use this drug CAUTIOUSLY in patients with :

- chronic renal insufficiency (kidney function failure) ;

- decreased phosphorus levels in the blood.

If in doubt, do not hesitate to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

For a good use of this medicine, it is essential to undergo a regular medical monitoring; this one can include examinations of the stomach: fibroscopy.

Contraindications Kéal Gé Sucralfate 1 g drinkable suspension 30 sachets

- hypersensitivity to the active substance or to one of the excipients mentioned in the leaflet;

- premature and dysmature newborns.

Interactions Kéal Gé Sucralfate 1 g oral suspension 30 sachets

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or may take any other medicine.

Sucralfate may decrease the effect of some drugs taken at the same time. It is advisable to take this medication 2 hours apart from another medication.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

It is best not to use this medicine during pregnancy.

If you discover that you are pregnant during treatment, consult your doctor, as only he or she can decide whether or not you should continue treatment.

The use of sucralfate during breast feeding is not recommended.

Directions for use Kéal Gé Sucralfate 1 g drinkable suspension 30 sachets

To drink the contents of the sachet, open along the dotted line, then squeeze the sachet by holding its open end between the lips.

Dosage

Gastric ulcer healing

1 sachet 4 times a day, i.e:

- 1 sachet half an hour to 1 hour before each of the 3 main meals,

- 1 sachet at bedtime, approximately 2 hours after the evening meal.

Healing of duodenal ulcers

Two treatment modalities are possible:

- 1 sachet 4 times a day, either:

1 sachet half an hour to 1 hour before each of the 3 main meals,

1 sachet at bedtime, approximately 2 hours after the evening meal.

- 2 sachets in the morning and evening, i.e. :

2 sachets in the morning upon waking, half an hour to 1 hour before breakfast,

2 sachets in the evening, approximately 2 hours after the evening meal.

Prevention of duodenal ulcer relapse

Two treatment modalities are possible:

- 1 sachet 2 times a day, either :

1 sachet in the morning on waking, half an hour to 1 hour before breakfast,

1 sachet in the evening taken either half an hour to 1 hour before the meal, or at bedtime, approximately 2 hours after the evening meal.

- 2 sachets in the evening, either half an hour to 1 hour before the meal, or at bedtime, about 2 hours after the evening meal.

Way of administration

Oral route.

Undesirable effects

As with all medications, this drug may cause adverse reactions, but they do not occur systematically in everyone.

- constipation ;

- rarely: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, dizziness;

- in case of long-term administration of high doses, there is a theoretical risk of a decrease in the level of phosphorus in the blood;

- some cases of bezoar (obstruction of the digestive tract) have been reported in some patients (see "Warnings and precautions").

Composition

The active substance is: Sucralfate 1 g.

The other components are : Guar gum, 70% non-crystallizable sorbitol, sodium saccharin, sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sorbic acid, flavor 26G55, purified water.
