TYPES OF HAIR
Hair, like your skin, can reveal a lot about your health and well-being. There are different types :
COLORED HAIR
What is the purpose of hair colouring? Coloured hair requires special attention. There are 3 main types of hair colouring.
- The first is direct or fleeting colouring. It allows you to give highlights to your natural colour. It is done without oxidation and will fade after about 4 shampoos.
- The second is a colouring that we call Semi-permanent. This colouring contains oxidants but is free of ammonia. It fixes itself on the keratin of the hair and is more effective than direct colouring. It is ideal for those who wish to conceal a few white hairs!
- Finally, those who wish to change their hair colour completely, will prefer permanent colouring or oxidation colouring. It contains ammonia, dyes and oxidants. Be careful, although this solution is the most effective, it is also the one that weakens and deteriorates the hair more, which then becomes more sensitive to external aggressions. If you opt for permanent colouring, pay particular attention to the care of your hair.
In order to preserve your colouring as much as possible, Mon Pharmacien conseil has selected top-of-the-range products specially adapted to coloured hair.
The recommended shampoos contain fixing and repairing agents that perfectly fix the colour and prevent it from fading over time.
Don't forget to alternate with another shampoo from time to time. Moisturizing colored hair is essential! The use of a conditioner after each shampoo is therefore highly recommended to nourish the hair in depth. If you choose to use masks, choose those for colored hair which will rehydrate it perfectly.
For optimal care, leave the mask on for at least 5 minutes. In case of prolonged exposure to the sun, protect your colored hair with a gel or an oil and apply a conditioner after each wash.
One last piece of advice to take care of your colored hair: avoid straightening or curling irons and shampoos with a too acidic pH.

OILY HAIR
Sebum is an oily film that allows the hair to keep its suppleness and shine. External and/or internal factors can lead to an overproduction of sebum. External factors can be pollution, the use of shampoos that are too aggressive for your scalp, the temperature of a hair dryer that is too high... Internal factors are hormonal imbalance, stress or an unbalanced diet.
Good practices against greasy hair :
- Adopt a balanced diet
- Use a mild shampoo daily if necessary - Prefer shampoos with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5
- Wipe the hair gently and massage the scalp carefully
Practices not recommended by our experts:
- Avoid washing your hair twice in succession - Do not use water that is too hot - For oily hair, the use of silicone shampoos is not recommended
- Use a hair dryer at high temperature.
Special cases
Oily roots and dry ends Damaged by UV rays, pollution and colouring, the hair scales rise and prevent the sebum from reaching the ends. Thus the roots become greasy while the ends remain dry.
Mon Pharmacien Conseil offers specially developed care products that should be applied only to the ends to coat the hair and reactivate the diffusion of sebum from the roots to the ends.

DRY HAIR
Hair can become dry and brittle. In fact, when exposed to the outside elements (wind, salt, sun) or to water that is too hot or too hard, the scales of the hair cuticle lift and the sebum can no longer diffuse along the hair. The hair loses its elasticity and becomes split, dull and brittle. Dry hair can also be caused by the fact that the amount of sebum produced by the body is too low.
Good practices against dry hair:
- Adopt a balanced diet
- Use a mild, rich shampoo once a week. Gently massage the scalp. This will stimulate blood circulation and increase sebum production.
- Finish by applying a nourishing and sheathing treatment
- You can also apply hair masks (butters or oils). We advise you to leave them on for at least 20 minutes in a warm towel. Then rinse gently with a mild shampoo
Practices not recommended by our experts:
- Use a hair dryer at high temperature.
- Drying damp hair too roughly with a towel
- Styling hair too violently.
Special case: Dull hair When the hair scales rise, they no longer reflect the light and the mirror effect is cancelled. The hair becomes dull. To counteract this, we recommend that you rinse thoroughly with cool water and then apply a nourishing and sheathing treatment to the hair. Finish the treatment by rinsing with an acid lotion to tighten the scales.

OUR TIPS
Tip 1: It is important to regularly change shampoo brands to keep your hair shiny and healthy.
Tip 2: It is not mandatory to use the conditioner from the same range as the shampoo you use. It is best to use the conditioner according to its richness. If you have dry hair, you should use masks or creams, which are often more effective for fragile hair than conditioners. For oily hair, choose a light conditioner to avoid weighing it down.
Tip 3: For the health of your hair, avoid using a hair dryer as much as possible, as it damages the hair. The advantage of hot air is that it makes it easier to place the hair. Favour hair dryers on which the temperature can be modulated.
