THE WAR OF THE BUTTONS

WHAT IS ACNE?

Acne is a skin disease caused by inflammation of the sebaceous glands. The skin needs to produce a certain amount of sebum to stay healthy, but sometimes the body produces too much.

Due to the hormonal changes of puberty leading to an excess of sebum, acne is common in 85% of teenagers. It can be very debilitating in the case of severe acne. 41% of adult women are prone to acne.

Excess sebum is most often found in the so-called "T-zone" (forehead, nose, chin) and makes the skin shiny.

As a result of impurities accumulating on the skin's surface, pores become clogged and the complexion becomes dull. Acne breakouts are caused by bacteria that develop inside the pores and release inflammatory and irritating substances.

DERMOCOSMETIC SOLUTIONS

There are different types of skin care products to reduce excess sebum, but above all good hygiene is necessary. Gently cleanse the skin to avoid further irritation. For this, prefer products without alcohol or classic alkaline soap. You can also use superfatted soaps, dermatological bars, foaming gels or cleansing lotions.

OUR TIPS FOR HEALTHIER SKIN

1- Wash your face morning and night using a gentle foaming gel, specially developed for oily skin. To dry your skin, do not rub, but tap gently to avoid irritating your skin.

2- For men, when shaving, prefer mechanical shaving to electric shaving, using an anti-irritating shaving foam containing an antiseptic agent. Then, apply an appropriate moisturizer that will balance and refine your skin. An anti-blemish cream to be used in the evening. CAUTION: Avoid touching the pimples or trying to pierce them. For large red pimples, there are drying sticks.

3- For a clearer skin, a purifying mask can be done once or twice a week maximum after having made a scrub with a soft exfoliant.

4- Make-up can very well be a solution in order to hide these imperfections but it is necessary to choose it well! Women suffering from acne should choose foundations designed specifically for acne-prone skin, which are non-oily and non-comedogenic. This type of product does not clog the skin's pores. The application of a powder allows excess sebum to be absorbed throughout the day.

5- In the case of severe acne, we advise you to consult a dermatologist who can prescribe oral treatments.

6- Finally, don't forget that exposure to the sun reduces acne, but it is generally followed by a flare-up in the autumn
