Exomuc 200 mg granules without water is a medicine indicated for recent respiratory diseases, accompanied by difficulty in expectoration, i.e. difficulty in evacuating bronchial secretions by spitting. This congestion often leads to a fatty, painless cough. This is a physiological defence mechanism which aims to clean the bronchi. It should not be thwarted. Cough suppressants should not be taken during a wet cough.
Exomuc 200 mg contains acetylcysteine as the active substance ............ 200 mg per 2 gram sachet.
Other ingredients are sodium saccharin, orange yellow S (E 110), orange flavouring and sucrose.
Orange flavour SC 281846 is composed of natural flavouring preparations, flavouring substances, benzyl alcohol, maltodextrin (corn) and gum arabic (E414)
DOSAGE OF EXOMUC 200 MG GRANULES WITHOUT WATER :
The recommended dosage of this medication is one sachet three times daily for adults as well as for children from the age of 7 years.
The granules can be taken directly without water. They will melt in the mouth. They can also be dissolved in a glass of water beforehand.
Do not take twice the dose if you forget to take it.
Follow the instructions on the package leaflet carefully before taking this medicine, or those of your pharmacist or doctor. If in doubt, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
In addition to Exomuc 200 mg, if you have a hacking cough, you are advised to
- drink large quantities of water or herbal tea to hydrate secretions,
- do not smoke, which will aggravate the cough,
- maintain a humid air with a temperature ranging from 17 to 19°C.
CONTRAINDICATIONS OF EXOMUC 200 MG GRANULES WITHOUT WATER:
Do not take this medicine in case of allergy to acetylcysteine or any of its components.
Exomuc 200 mg is not suitable for children under 7 years old.
You should seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before taking Exomuc if you have oily, purulent sputum with fever, or if you have a long-term disease of the lungs or bronchi.
Acetylcysteine may cause a sudden reduction in the size of the bronchi - a so-called bronchospasm. Patients with asthma or a history of bronchospasm should be cautious with this medication.
Bronchospasm may include difficulty breathing and shortness of breath with coughing and increased bronchial secretions. If these signs occur after taking the medication, stop treatment immediately and contact a doctor.
Exomuc thins bronchial secretions, which may increase in volume, leading to bronchial congestion. People who have difficulty or inability to expectorate should therefore be cautious with this medicine.
Do not take cough suppressants or bronchial secretions while taking Exomuc 200 mg.
If symptoms worsen after treatment, or persist for more than 5 days, consult your doctor.
Caution should be exercised when taking Exomuc 200 mg if you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer.
AsExomuc 200 mg contains fructose, it is not recommended for patients with fructose intolerance, sucrase/isomaltase deficiency, or glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome. If you are in any doubt, consult your doctor before use.
As each sachet contains 1.7 g of sucrose, this amount should be included in the daily intake of patients on a low-sugar diet or with diabetes.
Orange yellow S is an azo dye which may trigger allergic reactions.
This medicine is not suitable for children under 7 years of age. Before taking Exomuc 200 mg, if you are already taking another treatment, are about to take one or have recently taken one, consult your pharmacist.
Similarly, seek the advice of a doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
It is preferable not to take Exomuc 200 mg during pregnancy, and not to breast-feed your child if you are being treated with this medicine.
Possible side effects of this treatment are allergic reactions of the skin, generalised reactions, and possible digestive disorders.
