Fervex Cold is a medicine used to relieve symptoms associated with colds and flu-like conditions: runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, headache and fever.

This medicine is composed of paracetamol to fight fever and pain, and an antihistamine with a drying effect on nasal secretions. This combination helps to combat the symptoms of winter ailments such as colds and flu.

How to use Fervex Rhume?

Usual dosage: for adults and children over 15 years old, swallow 1 tablet with a glass of water, 1 to 4 times a day, with a minimum interval of 4 hours

INDICATIONS

This medicine is indicated for the treatment of colds, rhinitis, nasopharyngitis and influenza in adults and children over 15 years of age:

  • clear nasal discharge and lacrimation;
  • sneezing;
  • headache and/or fever.

Dosage forms and presentations

Film-coated tablet: Box of 16, in blister packs.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Dosage :

For adults and children over 15 years of age only.

For adults and children over 15 years, the dosage of paracetamol is 1 g per dose and 3 g per day.

Do not exceed the maximum dosage of 4 tablets per 24 hours.

Patients with impaired renal function

In case of renal insufficiency and unless medically indicated, it is recommended to reduce the dose and increase the minimum interval between doses, according to the following table

Total dose of paracetamol should not exceed 3 g/day.

Patients with Impaired Liver Function:

In patients with chronic active or compensated liver disease, particularly those with hepatocellular insufficiency, chronic alcoholism, chronic malnutrition (low hepatic glutathione stores), and dehydration, the dose of paracetamol should not exceed 3 g/day.

Special Clinical Situations:

The lowest effective daily dose of paracetamol should be considered, not to exceed 60 mg/kg/day (not to exceed 3 g/day) in the following situations:

  • adults weighing less than 50 kg;
  • mild to moderate hepatocellular insufficiency;
  • chronic alcoholism;
  • chronic malnutrition;
  • dehydration.

Maximum recommended doses:

  • In adults and children over 50 kg, the total dose of paracetamol should not exceed 4 grams per day (see Overdose).
  • In adults and children over 50 kg, the total dose of chlorphenamine maleate should not exceed 16 milligrams per day (see Overdosage).


Method of Administration:

Oral.

The tablets should be swallowed as they are with a drink (e.g. water, milk, fruit juice).

It is advisable to take them in the evening because of the sedative effect of chlorphenamine maleate.

Frequency of administration :

1 tablet, to be repeated if necessary after a minimum of 4 hours, without exceeding 4 tablets per day.

Duration of treatment:

In case of persistence of fever or pain beyond 3 days or lack of improvement of symptoms after 5 days of treatment, the treatment course to be followed should be reassessed.
