Use
Pain and reduced mobility in degenerative and traumatic changes of the knee joint and other synovial joints.
Instructions for use
Inject Ostenil Plus into the affected joint once a week, for a total of 1 to 3 injections.
Several joints can be treated simultaneously.
Treatment cycles can be repeated if necessary.
In case of joint effusion, it is advisable to reduce the effusion by suction, rest, application of an ice pack and/or intra-articular injection of a corticosteroid. Treatment with Ostenil Plus can then be resumed two to three days later.
The contents and outer surface of the Ostenil Plus pre-filled syringe remain sterile as long as the sterile packaging remains intact. Remove the pre-filled syringe from the sterile package. Before use, the safety closure of the pre-filled syringe must be broken. Break off the crosspiece of the safety closure. The tip can be removed with the cap. Attach a suitable needle (e.g. 18 to 25 G) and ensure that it is securely attached by turning it slightly. Before injection, make sure that any air bubbles are removed from the syringe.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity to any of the components.
Precautions for use
Particular care should be taken in patients with known hypersensitivity to drugs.
General precautions for intra-articular injections should be taken, including measures to avoid joint infection.
Ostenil Plus should be injected specifically into the joint cavity, if necessary under fluoroscopic guidance. Avoid injection into blood vessels and surrounding tissue.
In the absence of clinical data on the use of hyaluronic acid in children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or Bekhterev's disease, the administration of Ostenil Plus is not recommended in these patients.
Do not use if the pre-filled syringe or sterile packaging is damaged.
Interactions:
To date, no data are available on the incompatibility of Ostenil Plus with other intra-articular solutions. Simultaneous use of analgesics or oral anti-inflammatory medication during the first few days of treatment may be helpful to the patient.
Adverse Effects:
Local manifestations such as pain, heat, redness and swelling may occur in the joint treated with Ostenil Plus. The application of an ice pack for 5 to 10 minutes to the treated area will reduce the incidence of these effects.
Storage conditions
Store at room temperature not exceeding 25°C.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the box.
Keep out of reach of children.
