The active substance of this medicine is carbocistein, 5 g per 100 ml. Other ingredients are xanthan gum, saccharin sodium, liquid maltitol, 96% ethanol, sodium hydroxide, caramel flavour and purified water.
The caramel flavour consists of diacetyl, propylene glycol, butyric acid, methylcyclopentenolone, maltol, 4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)-furanone, piperonal and vanillin.

Bronchokod without sugar is a syrup indicated in the fat cough in adults in case of difficulty of expectoration (difficulty to reject by spitting the bronchial secretions).

How does Bronchokod work?

Carbocistein belongs to the family of mucomodifiers: it is mucolytic. It will break the bonds (disulfide bridge) between the proteins of the mucus present in the bronchial tubes making it more liquid and therefore easier to evacuate through coughing.

Dosage of Bronchokod syrup without sugar

The recommended dose for an adult is 1 measuring cup (15 ml), morning, noon and evening, 3 times a day. This syrup should be taken outside of meals. One measuring cup provides 750 mg of carbocistein. One measuring cup corresponds to one tablespoon.
The measuring cup must be rinsed after each use.

Without medical advice, treatment with Bronchokod should not exceed 5 days.

Bronchokod syrup should not be taken just before bedtime due to its mode of action.

Precautions for use of Bronchokod without sugar

This fluidifying syrup should not be used if you are allergic to carbocistein or to any of the excipients. It should also not be taken by children.

If you are elderly, have a fever, greenish sputum, chronic bronchial or lung disease, a stomach ulcer or are taking a medicine that can cause bleeding in the digestive system, you should seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Bronchokod cough syrup should never be used in combination with cough medicines. A wet cough is useful for coughing up and clearing mucus from your bronchial tubes. It should not be stopped.

Due to the presence of alcohol in the syrup, this medicine should not be taken during breastfeeding or pregnancy. Alcohol may also affect your ability to drive or use vehicles or machinery.

Each 15 ml measuring cup of this cough syrup contains 99.9 mg of sodium, so you should take this into account if your doctor has asked you to follow a salt-free diet.

Bronchokod without sugar contains 11.9% ethanol (alcohol), which corresponds to 1.5 g per dose: its use in alcoholics, people going through withdrawal, epileptics, people with impaired liver function or pregnant women is dangerous and therefore not recommended.
