Contraindications
Never take OROCAL VITAMIN D3 500 mg/400 I.U., chewable tablet:
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to calcium carbonate or cholecalciferol (vitamin D) or to any of the other components contained in this medicine, mentioned in section 6,
- In case of prolonged immobilisation,
- If you have an abnormally high amount of calcium in your blood (hypercalcaemia),
- If you have excessive calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria),
- If you have too much vitamin D in your body (hypervitaminosis D),
- If you suffer from kidney stones (calcium lithiasis).

Precautions for use
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking OROCAL VITAMIN D3 500 mg/400 I.U., chewable tablet:
This medicine contains isomalt. Its use is not recommended in patients with fructose intolerance (a rare hereditary disease).
This medicine contains sucrose. It is not recommended for use in patients with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase/isomaltase deficiency (rare hereditary diseases).
Use this medication CAREFULLY in case of :
- If you are taking this medicine for a long time, it is necessary to have regular checks on the amount of calcium excreted in your urine (calciuria), the amount of calcium in your blood (blood calcium levels), and your kidney function. Depending on the results, your doctor may have to reduce or even stop your treatment.
- additional administration of calcium and vitamin D in high doses which must be done under strict medical supervision.
- associated treatment based on sodium fluoride, bisphosphonates, it is advisable to wait at least three hours between taking these medicines and OROCAL VITAMIN D3,
- in case of associated treatment with estramustine, thyroid hormones, strontium, zinc, it is advisable to wait at least two hours between taking these medicines and OROCAL VITAMIN D3,
- and in case of treatment with an antibiotic of the cyclin family, it is advised to take the antibiotic at least two hours before taking OROCAL VITAMIN D3 or 4 to 6 hours after taking OROCAL VITAMIN D3.
- sarcoidosis or kidney failure.
- immobilization if you suffer from osteoporosis.
