Calcium vitamin D3 500 mg from the Mylan laboratory is administered in elderly subjects, in case of calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency, this medication can be administered in combination with osteoporosis treatments.

Description:

The two active ingredients are calcium carbonate (DESTAB) dosed at 1387.50 mg which corresponds to 500.00 mg of elemental calcium and cholecalciferol coated at 100,000 IU/g (vitamin D3 100 CWS) which corresponds to cholecalciferol 400 IU.

The other components of calcium vitamin D3 500 mg are: sorbitol, magnesium stearate, aspartam, and lemon flavor (deterpenated lemon essential oil, ascorbic acid, citral, sucrose, maltodextrin).

The excipients with notorious effect are the aspartam, the sorbitol, and the saccharose.

DOSAGE OF CALCIUM VITAMIN D3 500 MG / 400 IU

You are advised to take 1 tablet of Calcium vitamin D3 morning and evening to be chewed or sucked and preferably 2 hours before or after the meal

The intake is staggered with the meal, because this medicine can interact with certain foods rich in oxalic acid (spinach, rhubarb...) and phytic acid (whole grains...).

In case of overdose, you should consult your doctor. Symptoms may appear such as nausea, vomiting, intense thirst, or constipation.

If you miss a dose, do not double the dose

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF CALCIUM VITAMIN D3 500 MG/400 IU

The intake of Calcium vitamin D3 is contraindicated in case of

  • allergy to vitamin D or to any of the components of this medication,
  • hypercalcemia, i.e. too high a concentration of calcium in the blood,
  • hypercalciuria, i.e. exaggerated elimination of calcium through the urine,
  • kidney stones (calcium lithiasis),
  • phenylketonuria due to the presence of aspartam.

The catch of Calcium vitamin D3 500mg/400 UI will be done only on medical opinion and with precaution in case :

  • fructose intolerance, glucose and galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency, due to the presence of sucrose and sorbitol in the drug,
  • in patients on long-term therapy, calciuria should be assessed regularly,
  • administration of calcium and vitamin D in high doses, which must be done under strict medical supervision,
  • sarcoidosis or renal insufficiency.

It is advised to wait at least two hours between taking Calcium vitamin D3 500 mg/400 IU and biphosphonate-based treatments, this is also the case with antibiotics of the cyclin family or with estramustine.
