Description:
This laxative has two different modes of action: it increases the hydration and volume of the contents of the colon through an osmotic effect thanks to lactulose, while paraffin oil is a laxative with a mechanical action acting by lubricating the contents of the colon, while softening the faeces
Its effects are felt during the 6 to 8 hours following its use
Its composition per 100 g is as follows
Lactulose 35.00 g
Special solidified paraffin oil
Quantity corresponding to
Vaseline 21,45 g
Paraffin oil 42.91 g
Other components of its formula are aspartam, cholesterol, lactic acid, bixin oil, and essential oils of mandarin, lemon and sweet orange
Dosage:
The dose usually recommended in attack treatment is 2 to 3 measuring spoons of 5 ml per day
In maintenance treatment, it is 1 to 3 measuring spoons of 5 ml per day
The duration of the treatment varies according to the symptomatology. In the context of constipation, prolonged use (more than 8 days) should not be started without medical advice.
Contraindications :
This medicine should never be used in case of allergy to lactulose, paraffin or any of the components contained in its formula, in case of abdominal pain, digestive perforation or suspicion of perforation, or in case of phenylketunia due to the presence of aspartam
The administration of paraffin oil should be carried out with caution in persons who are lying down or have difficulty swallowing, because of the risk of bronchial inhalation.
Melaxose should be used with caution in patients treated with diuretics, but also in cases of kidney or liver disease.
The use of this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy.
