Description:
Candidiasis:
- Treatment of non-macerated fold mycoses: genital intertrigo, submammary, interdigital, etc.
In some cases, it is recommended to treat the digestive tract simultaneously.
Dermatophytes :
- Treatment of macerated genital and crural intertrigo
- Treatment of intertrigo of the toes
Contraindications:
Never use Econazole Sandoz 1% Powder for Dermal Application if you are allergic to econazole nitrate or any of the other ingredients in this medication.
What the medication is used for
Econazole nitrate; talc, colloidal anhydrous silica (Aerosil 300), light zinc oxide
The active substance is: econazole nitrate (1 g per 100 g of powder).
Directions for use:
Follow the following steps carefully when applying:
1. Clean the affected area as well as the surrounding area, then dry the skin well before application.
2. Apply Econazole on and around the affected area twice a day.
Duration of treatment:
Candidiasis:
- Non-macerated fold mycoses: genital intertrigo, submammary, interdigital, etc.1 to 2 weeks
Dermatophytes:
- Macerated genital and crural intertrigo2 to 3 weeks
- Toe intertrigo3 weeks
Regular use of the product throughout the treatment is crucial to the success of the treatment.
Precautions for use :
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Econazole Sandoz 1% Powder for Dermal Application :
- In children
- On a large area of skin
- On injured (damaged) skin
- In situations where the phenomenon of local occlusion may recur (e.g. elderly subjects, bedsores, sub-breast lesions)
In these cases, it is imperative to respect the recommendations and the dosage indicated in the leaflet because the product penetrates more easily into the skin.
For external use only
You must stop using this medicine if an allergy (recognizable by redness, pimples, etc.) or irritation occurs.
Do not apply to the eye, nose or generally to mucous membranes.
Based on limited but possible systemic passage after topical application and clinical experience, the use of Econazole Sandoz 1% Powder for Dermal Application is not recommended during pregnancy or lactation without the advice of your physician.
Do not apply to the breasts while breastfeeding.
Candidiasis: it is not recommended to use a soap with an acidic pH (pH favouring the multiplication of Candida).
Tell your doctor if you are taking a blood-thinning medication (antivitamin K drugs such as acenocoumarol, fluindione, warfarin) because Econazole may alter the action of antivitamins K in some people. Therefore, you will need to monitor your INR (blood tests) frequently. Depending on your situation, your doctor may also decide to change the dose of your vitamin K medication during or after treatment with Econazole.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, but they do not always occur in everyone. Common side effects are: itching, burning, pain at the application site.
