Description:
Its active substance is the seed coat of ispaghul (Plantago ovata Forssk), dosed at 3,600 mg for a 6.9 g sachet.
Other components of this medication are citric acid anhydrous, sorbitol, potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, sodium saccharin and lemon flavour (lemon-maltodextrin detergent essential oils)
DOSAGE:
The usual recommended dosage for adults is 1 sachet one to three times a day, to be taken before meals
The contents of the Psylia sachet should be poured into a large glass of liquid (water or fruit juice). It should then be stirred and swallowed immediately. It is necessary to use a sufficient amount of water, so as not to reduce the effectiveness of the medicine, and not to cause an obstruction
It is recommended to drink again a few minutes later
The duration of treatment varies according to the symptoms. Prolonged use should not be made without medical advice
In case of overdose of this medicine, diarrhea and bloating may occur
This medication should be taken 30 minutes to an hour before taking other medications
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Psylia, effervescent powder for oral suspension should not be used in case of allergy/hypersensitivity to its active substance, also known as psyllium or to any of its other components. It should not be used in the event of a sudden change in bowel function lasting more than 2 weeks, or in the case of certain diseases of the intestine and colon, such as Crohn's disease, rectocolitis or intestinal obstruction
This medicine should not be used in cases of abdominal pain or fecal impaction. It should also not be used in cases of rectal bleeding of unknown cause or if there is no exoneration after taking another laxative. If you have problems swallowing or throat problems, do not take this medicine
If abdominal pain or irregular bowel movements occur, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
Any unexplained recent constipation, or constipation accompanied by pain, swelling of the abdomen or fever should be reported to a doctor
Psylia, effervescent powder for oral suspension contains 3.45 mmol of potassium per sachet, which corresponds to 146.6 mg per sachet. This information should be taken into account in subjects who control their dietary intake of potassium, as well as in patients with renal insufficiency.
It also contains sorbitol, a source of fructose. If you are intolerant to certain sugars or have a hereditary intolerance to fructose, you should talk to your doctor before taking this medication
