Description:
Its active substance is the 20% solution of chlorhexidine gluconate. The amount corresponding to chlorhexidine gluconate is 0.0120 g per 100 ml of solution
The other components of Prexidine are: saccharin, glycerol, mint flavour*, polysorbate 80, alcohol, levomenthol, purified water.
*Composition of the mint flavor: ethanol, menthol, menthyl acetate, essential oil of mint.
DOSAGE :
This medicine is reserved for adults and children over 6 years.
With the 200 ml and 300 ml bottles, the dose of solution to be used (15 ml, the equivalent of one tablespoon) can be identified by the measuring cup.
For the 500 ml bottle, the contents of one tablespoon of solution must be used
The solution must be used pure, and therefore not diluted. It is used after brushing and rinsing the teeth, and should not be swallowed
The number of mouthwashes per day is 1 to 3, and the duration of treatment should not exceed 5 days without medical advice
If you accidentally swallow Prexidine mouthwash solution, symptoms such as stomach or esophageal pain may occur. Consult your dentist, oral surgeon or physician
If a child accidentally swallows the solution, your doctor should be contacted because of the presence of alcohol in the Prexidine formula.
The terpene derivatives of which it is composed, can lead, in excessive doses, and if the solution is accidentally swallowed, to neurological accidents in children (convulsions) and in elderly subjects (agitation and confusion)
It is important to respect the recommended dosage and the indicated duration of treatment
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
This mouthwash solution should never be used if you have an allergy to chlorexidine or any of the components of Prexidine.
This medication should not be swallowed
Prolonged use of this mouthwash is not recommended as it may alter the natural microbial balance of the throat and mouth
If signs of infection worsen or if there is no improvement after 5 days, you should consult your dentist or stomatologist.
You should not use more than one medication containing an antiseptic at the same time or in close proximity
Tell your dentist, stomatologist or pharmacist about any other medication you are taking to avoid drug interactions
Prexidine should be used with caution in pregnant or nursing women. It is advisable to seek the advice of your doctor before taking any medication
