DOSAGE :
This medicine is reserved for adults and children over 6 years of age.
If you are using Tardyferon 80 mg tablet to treat iron deficiency, the usual recommended dose for adults is 80 to 160 mg per day (1 to 2 tablets per day)
For children, it is 80 mg per day (1 tablet per day)
If you are taking this medicine to avoid iron deficiency, in pregnant women, the usual dose is 80 mg per day (1 tablet) every day or every other day during the last 2 trimesters of pregnancy (or from the 4th month onwards)
In all cases, it is important to strictly adhere to the prescription provided by your doctor
The tablet is to be swallowed whole and should not be sucked, chewed or held in the mouth
It should be taken with a large glass of water, preferably before or during meals, depending on digestive tolerance
Concerning the duration of treatment, it is important to respect the duration of treatment prescribed by your doctor
In the event of an overdose, certain effects will be felt due to too much iron intake: nausea and vomiting, intense gastrointestinal irritation, often bloody diarrhoea, which may be accompanied by a drop in blood pressure, or a malfunction of your kidneys and liver, which may lead to convulsions
It is then necessary to consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic/hypersensitive to iron or any of its components, or if you have anemia not related to iron deficiency
Before taking Tardyferon 80 mg tablet, ask your doctor or pharmacist
Treatment with this medication will not be effective if your iron deficiency is associated with an inflammatory disease.
High tea consumption inhibits the absorption of iron. It is therefore advisable not to use this medicine and this drink at the same time
Likewise, the simultaneous consumption of coffee, red wine, legumes, eggs or cereals prevents the body from absorbing iron
The tablets must not be sucked, held in the mouth or chewed, as there is a risk of tooth discolouration and damage (ulceration) to the lining of the mouth. Therefore, it is necessary to swallow them whole with a large glass of water.
Some medicines cannot be used at the same time as Tardyferon 80 mg tablet, while others require specific changes (dose, time of intake, etc.). Unless your doctor decides otherwise, you should not use Tardyferon 80 mg tablet if you are using any of the following medicines
