Description:
Dafalgan Tabs 1000 mg has as active substance paracetamol, 1000 mg per film-coated tablet. Its other components are: hydroxypropyl cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, glycerol behenate, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica. Finally, the film coating consists of : OPADRY OY-S-38901: hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), propylene glycol (E1520)
One film-coated tablet contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium, which means it is primarily "sodium-free".
DOSAGE:
The dose per administration is 1000 mg. The minimum dosing interval is 4 hours. The maximum daily dose is 3000 mg, which is equivalent to 3 tablets
This dosage is reserved for children weighing more than 50 kg, which corresponds approximately to 15 years, and for adults
Never exceed 3000 mg of paracetamol per day. Beyond that, there is no additional pain relief, but there may be serious consequences for the liver
Be careful, to prevent any risk of overdose, it is necessary to check that there is no paracetamol in other drugs, including those without prescription
If you feel that Dafalgan Tabs is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist
The maximum duration of treatment is 3 days in case of fever, and 5 days in case of pain. In case of aggravation or persistence of fever and/or pain beyond these periods, do not continue the treatment without the advice of your doctor
This medicine is taken orally. The tablets must be swallowed as they are with a drink (water, fruit juice, milk).
If you take too much Dafalgan Tabs, you should stop the treatment and consult an emergency doctor or your doctor immediately. An overdose can be fatal. In the first 24 hours, the main symptoms of intoxication are vomiting, abdominal pain and paleness
If a dose is missed, do not double the next dose
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:
Never take this medicine in case of allergy to the active substance or any of its other components, in case of severe liver disease, or if you are a child under 50 kg (approximately 15 years old).
It is necessary to inform your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dafalgan Tabs:
- if you are an adult weighing less than 50 kg,
- if you are taking other medicines formulated with paracetamol,
- if you have liver or kidney disease,
- if you have Gilbert's syndrome (non-hemolytic familial jaundice),
- in case of alcohol abuse,
- in case of nutritional problems (malnutrition, low hepatic glutathione reserves), anorexia or cachexia (significant weight loss),
- in case of dehydration,
- in case of acute viral hepatitis.
In a child treated with paracetamol, the combination of another drug to reduce fever is justified only if it is ineffective. The combination should only be initiated and supervised by a physician
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have taken, are taking or are taking any other medication
A physician should be contacted if flucloxacillin is taken because of the increased risk of metabolic acidosis, especially if there are risk factors for glutathione deficiency, such as severe renal failure, sepsis, chronic alcoholism or malnutrition.
Dafalgan Tabs should be reported if a blood sugar or uric acid test is prescribed
It is not recommended to take alcohol during treatment
Ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice before taking the medicine if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to become pregnant. It is possible to use Dafalgan Tabs during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The lowest possible dose of pain and/or fever relief should be taken for the shortest possible time. Contact your doctor if the pain and/or fever does not decrease
Paracetamol may cause impairment of female fertility, which is reversible upon discontinuation of treatment
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS :
They do not occur systematically in everyone
Rarely, this drug causes a skin rash or redness or an allergic reaction. Treatment should be stopped immediately and your doctor notified.
Very rarely, severe skin rashes occur. Treatment should be stopped immediately and the doctor should be informed
Exceptionally, this medication leads to biological changes requiring a blood test. Consult a doctor
Cases of INR imbalance have been reported when paracetamol at maximum dose for at least 4 days is combined with VKAs.
