Directions for use Pharmatex 18.9 mg local contraception 20 Ovules
Introduce an ovule systematically before each act of intercourse, whatever the time of your menstrual cycle, including during menstruation.
In the case of repeated intercourse, use a new egg before each new act of intercourse.
This medication is taken vaginally. It must not be swallowed.
The following conditions of use must be observed, as efficacy depends on compliance with the directions for use:
Always insert an ovule into the vagina 5 minutes before intercourse, whatever the period of your menstrual cycle, including during menstruation.
It's best to insert the ovum while lying down, as this makes it easier to place at the bottom of the vagina.
In the case of repeated intercourse, insert another egg before each act of intercourse.
Protection lasts 4 hours.
Immediately before or after intercourse, only external cleansing with pure water is possible for both partners. Do not clean your private parts with soap.
Precautions for use :
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Pharmatex.
Before using Pharmatex, make sure you read and understand the instructions.
- Always insert Pharmatex deep into the vagina before sexual intercourse, whatever the period of your menstrual cycle.
- Soapy water destroys the active ingredient in this local contraceptive. Consequently, you should not clean your genitals with soap 2 hours before or 2 hours after intercourse. Only external cleansing with pure water is possible for both partners.
- Wait at least 2 hours if you want to irrigate your vagina with pure water.
- Avoid bathing, swimming in the sea or in a pool. This may reduce the effectiveness of Pharmatex.
- If a genital lesion occurs or worsens, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
- If vaginal treatment or the use of any other vaginal product proves necessary, wait until the end of treatment before (re)starting contraception with Pharmatex.
This method of contraception does not protect against sexually transmitted infections or AIDS.
To date, only condoms offer real protection.
The effectiveness of this local contraceptive method is inferior to that of other contraceptive methods such as :
- Hormonal contraception: oral contraceptives, subcutaneous implants, contraceptive patches, hormone-releasing IUDs, vaginal rings, etc
- Copper IUD
- Diaphragm, cervical cap
- Condoms
So it's very important that your doctor or pharmacist explains exactly how to use them.
If you do not understand how to use this product, please ask your pharmacist or doctor again.
To obtain the most effective contraception possible, it's important to follow the directions for use.
Always use a dose of vaginal cream before each sexual encounter, and at any time during your menstrual cycle, including during your period.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or may take any other medication.
It is generally not recommended to use Pharmatex at the same time as vaginal medications and soaps. They may cause Pharmatex to lose its contraceptive efficacy.
- If your doctor has prescribed a vaginal treatment, wait until the end of the treatment before using Pharmatex.
- You can use a condom with Pharmatex to ensure greater protection.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
The use of Pharmatex at the start of an unrecognized pregnancy poses no particular risk to the fetus.
Breast-feeding is possible.
If you have taken more Pharmatex than you should have, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to use Pharmatex 18.9 mg, ovule, there is a risk of pregnancy. In this case, emergency contraception can be used, but should be taken as soon as possible
