Folic acid contributes to the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy.

Iodine contributes to normal thyroid hormone production and normal thyroid function.

The consumption of DHA omega-3 fatty acids by the mother contributes to normal brain and visual development of the foetus and the breastfed child. The beneficial effect is obtained by consuming 200 mg of DHA per day, in addition to the recommended daily intake of 250 mg of omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA).
