Minoxidil 5% Cooper contains minoxidil, a substance that stimulates hair and beard growth and slows hair loss. Minoxidil is also a vasodilator used orally to treat high blood pressure. Applied locally to the scalp or facial hair, minoxidil's antihypertensive effect is generally imperceptible.

Minoxidil 5% is used to treat hormone-induced hair loss and beard hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men only.

How do I apply Minoxidil 5% to my beard?

On perfectly dry hair or beard, apply the solution from the center to the periphery of the area to be treated. Wash hands thoroughly after use.

The usual dosage is easy to follow. For men over 18 and under 65: 1 application of 1 ml (whatever the area to be treated), morning and evening.

One application corresponds to 7 presses on the metering pump.

Increasing the dose does not increase the efficacy of the treatment, and exposes you to an increased risk of side effects.

Focus on stimulating beard growth

Contrary to popular belief, regular shaving does not help beard growth. As soon as they are cut, your hairs will grow quickly at first, but soon afterwards, growth is slowed down. Cutting or shaving your beard won't stimulate the appearance of new hair follicles, so you won't get a fuller beard.

The best way to grow beard properly is to let it grow without interruption. Beard growth generally lasts from 1 to 3 months. After that, it all depends on the length you want. At first, your beard will grow unsightly, so remember to moisturize it to improve its appearance.

Scientific studies suggest that certain vitamins and nutrients can help your beard grow faster, better and healthier. Among these is vitamin A, which promotes cell renewal in your body, particularly in your body hair, which happens to be the fastest-growing human cell.

You can find vitamin A in many foods and supplements, including milk, eggs, yoghurt and cod liver oil. If you follow a Vegan diet, consider kale, sweet potatoes, carrots and pumpkin. These vegetables all contain beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A.

Vitamin A also helps your body produce sebum, a natural oily substance that helps keep your hair and hair follicles healthy.

There are other ways to promote beard growth, too:

Eating a balanced diet, i.e. getting enough protein, starches, vitamins and minerals.

Vitamins B, E and C are also important for hair growth.

Beard shampoos and conditioners can also help grow a strong, healthy beard.

Tip

Tocombat hyperseborrhea, it's also important to eat a balanced diet and avoid excessively fatty, salty or sweet foods wherever possible. In particular, limit consumption of certain high-fat dairy products.

Against alopecia: regular scalp massage: A scalp massage activates blood circulation, which helps nutrients to be absorbed by the scalp, keeping hair healthy. Its action also makes the scalp's sometimes compact and solid grease more liquid: the scalp's pores are then freed and the hair can "live again".

The "magic" shampoos against alopecia: Turn to natural, gentle and effective products to care for your hair. Chilli (chile) and cactus (zabila) shampoos are particularly effective against hyperseborrhea.

Panthenol or provitamin B5 helps combat alopecia: Used in many cosmetics, panthenol or vitamin B5 promotes skin regeneration, but is also effective - particularly in spray form - in giving hair strength and vitality.
