Warning

This medicine can be used on the advice of your pharmacist. Nevertheless, medical advice is necessary in case of heart disease, even old. It is not suitable for sudden hair loss due to illness or medication. It should not be applied anywhere other than on the scalp.

A dermatological condition of the scalp must be treated before applying this medicine.

In the event of a drop in blood pressure, increased heart rate, chest pain or severe skin reactions, treatment should be discontinued.

If the solution is accidentally squirted into the eyes, onto mucous membranes or broken skin, rinse thoroughly with water.

Interactions of ALOSTIL 2% with other substances

Do not apply this solution together with other irritating products intended for application to the scalp.

Fertility, pregnancy and lactation

The safety of this drug has not been established during pregnancy or lactation. As a precautionary measure, its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Instructions for use and dosage of ALOSTIL 2% medicine

On perfectly dry hair, apply the solution from the centre to the periphery of the area to be treated. Wash hands thoroughly after use.

Usual dosage:

  • Adult: 1 application of 1 ml (whatever the area to be treated), twice a day. 1 application corresponds to 7 sprays.

Increasing the dose does not increase the effectiveness of the treatment and exposes to an increased risk of adverse effects.

Advice

This medication may be available over the counter in some pharmacies; however, do not hesitate to ask your pharmacist for advice.

Usually, the treatment is only effective after 4 months or more; to maintain the benefit, it should never be interrupted. When the treatment is stopped, regrowth stops and a return to the initial state can be expected within 3 or 4 months.

In case of sun exposure after application, it is recommended to cover the head with a hat or cap.

It is advisable to wash the hair with a mild shampoo and to limit colouring, which can be aggressive to the scalp.

This product is flammable: keep it away from heat.

Possible side effects of ALOSTIL 2% medication

Most often, minor skin reactions: irritation, redness, burning, itching, dryness of the skin; excessive hair growth outside the treated area.

More rarely: allergy, dizziness, tingling, headache, weakness, eye irritation, visual disturbances, taste alterations, ear infection, edema, neuritis.

Other reports include: hair loss (paradoxical effect), irregular hair, chest pain, decreased blood pressure, increased pulse rate, increased transaminases.

Due to the presence of propylene glycol: risk of eczema.
