Ricqlès Classic sugar-free chewing gums fight against the acid attacks responsible for caries and bad breath, and refresh the mouth thanks to xylitol, whose negative dissolution heat, specific to polyols in general, produces a cold sensation.


Extracted from the birch bark, xylitol is widely used as a sweetener in confectionery. Indeed, this organic compound has a sweetening power similar to saccharose but itscaloric intake is almost twice as low (2.4 kcal/g against 4 kcal/g for saccharose). This property makes it an ideal substitute for traditional sugar, especially since sucrose is identified as one of the causes of tooth decay.
On the other hand, xylitol has an anti-bacterial action in Ricqlès Classic chewing gums, reducing dry mouth.

In addition, xylitol has a glycemic index of 7. On a scale of 100, which corresponds to the reference product, i.e. pure glucose, this index makes it ideal for diabetics.
